Parlano di noi!

Gentili ospiti, riportiamo l'articolo a noi dedicato sul sito Winter Guard United Kingdom

Italian Colourguard visiting UK in March

The Academy's creative director, and WGUK judge Darren Darton has recently spent time in Italy teaching an up and coming Italian colourguard, who are part of a successful Italian Marching band, Giuseppe Verdi Marching Band (www.gvmsb.org).

The Academy is delighted to be hosting the young members of this Italian guard for a weekend in March, in which they will spend time with The Academy in training, and will also for the first time attend a winterguard show at Burgess Hill on 14th March. I'm sure everyone will join The Academy, Southern Knights (who are hosting the Burgess Hill competition) and WGUK in welcoming this young group of colourguard members to their first ever Winterguard show, as much as they are extremely excited to see what winterguard is all about.

WGUK always encourage and support the building of tie's with groups across Europe to help promote Winterguard, and encourage new colourguards from across the waters to take part in competitive activities.

The Academy are extremely excited to be hosting and working with this group of talented colourguard members and in providing them an insight into the world of Winterguard in our country.

History of the band
The marching band was founded in 1904 as a traditional band and at the end of the 90s became a marching band. In less than 5 years they succeeded in making a name for ourselves in the national and international arena as one of the best marching bands. There position has been confirmed by the results achieved in some competitions during which we performed from 2003 up 2008. They attended six Italian championships (www.imsb.org), getting the podium both in the parade competition and in the show one.

In 2003, 2004 and 2008 they participated to the world championships (www.wamsb.org) of marching show bands. In 2004 - in Bournemouth (UK), they competed with more than 50 groups from the five continents and they got, after an exciting competition, a very prestigious and unexpected access to the final. They qualified as the 13th marching band. The good quality achieved and expressed during there performances in the competitions is represented by the numerous and prestigious national and international events in which the marching band have performed.

Giuseppe Verdi Marching Band, there are 40 brass - wind players, 12 drum players and 8 colour guard. PRESIDENT Mr.Luca PELLIZZER, BAND DIRECTOR Mr.Daniele VALERI
